Aadhaar Enrolment Process To Begin From October 6 : The Supreme Court delivering a landmark judgement on the Aadhaar case, it has become rather clear that the 12-digit unique identity number neither confers nor is a proof of citizenship. Hence, the much-awaited Aadhaar enrolment in the state is set to start from 6th October, informed deputy commissioner Virendra Mittal.

Aadhaar enrolment, which was delayed in Assam for over four years owing to citizenship concerns, will finally start in full swing. The process of implementation has gained full momentum in the city and a total of 42 centres have been set up in Kamrup (M), out of which 22 are inside GMC area while the other 22 are in the rural areas and the suburbs.
